PETALING JAYA: The Tunku Azizah Handmade Market (TTAHM) online platform helps local craft entrepreneurs market their own products online in line with the current trend of online shopping.
Through the online platform at www.sewingworld.com.my, industry players especially from the bottom 40 per cent (B40) household income group will have the potential to go further and be able to penetrate overseas markets.
Run by the Malaysian Creative Sewing Arts Association (PSJKM), TTAHM online was launched by the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, here today.
In her speech, the Raja Permaisuri Agong, who is the patron of PSJKM, expressed her full support for the association’s efforts in assisting all the pioneers including art makers and traders at TTAHM to promote the local handicraft industry.
Tunku Azizah said she also admired the dedication showed by PSJKM chairman Fully Chye Goet Lee, who is committed to guiding women, especially single mothers, to generate their own income.
“She not only helped me a lot but also helped single moms by teaching them how to sew and become entrepreneurs. I have known her for 15 years, I can see that she is sincere in helping other women,” Tunku Azizah said.
Meanwhile, Chye said that TTAHM online is a platform for the handicraft industry to move forward, be competitive and have the potential to market their products overseas.
“In addition to offering offline products, TTAHM now offers online products in line with the IR 4.0 to keep the creative sewing industry competitive and also have a larger market,” she said. – Bernama
