MIRI: A 21-year-old man was arrested on Thursday night for allegedly stealing a handphone. The suspect, a local, was first apprehended by his victim before he was handed over to the police for further action.
According to a source, the suspect had broken into a rented room in Permyjaya in wee hours on Tuesday and stole a handphone.
During the break-in, the victim was asleep and was unaware of anything. The suspect was immediately recognised via a CCTV footage taken from the premises. However, when the victim woke up around 3 am he discovered that his handphone was missing. After a thorough check the victim found that one of the room’s windows was ajar. A CCTV footage showed the suspect had entered the room via the window.
