KUCHING: Thermos Malaysia achieved a milestone with the grand opening of its first concept store in East Malaysia.

Bringing the online experience to the physical store, the Thermos concept store is located at The Spring Mall here.

The opening of the store in East Malaysia this year also coincides with the 120th anniversary of the Thermos brand.

Present at the opening ceremony of the store on Friday (July 19) were The Spring Mall Group chief executive officer Joanna Ling, The Spring Mall Group managing director James Ling, Thermos Malaysia managing director Masato Hirose, Thermos Malaysia deputy managing director Erlysha Ang, and Thermos Malaysia assistant retails store manager Nurul Hada.

Ang explains the functions of the vacuum insulated carbonated flask.

Masato said the expansion, with the opening of their first concept store in Kuching, highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to better serve Malaysians and meet the needs of East Malaysians.

“By bringing Thermos products closer to Sarawak residents, we are providing existing and future fans with convenience and easier access to our quality products that have been trusted for generations.

“East Malaysia, with its growing potential and vast opportunities, represents an important market for Thermos Malaysia. Thus, this new store opening in Sarawak is timely,” he said.

He added the state’s strong focus on sustainability and nature resonates deeply with Thermos.

“For over 120 years, Thermos has empowered customers worldwide to enjoy food and beverages at ideal temperatures with products built for lasting use, embodying the very principles of sustainable living,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ang said the decision to set up the first Thermos concept store in Kuching was after extensive market research, and study about the consumers’ demands and lifestyle.

“We also chose Kuching as the first shop as this store is like the gateway to the whole of Borneo,” she said.

She also said the store will allow customers to explore Thermos products firsthand, which is something that online shopping during the pandemic could not offer.
