KUCHING: Entertainment centres found violating the standard operating procedures (SOP) Covid-19 may be ordered to close down immediately.
In announcing this, the State Disaster Management Committee said the ruling was made following an increase in the issuance of compounds against SOP flouters at entertainment centres throughout the state.
The Ministry of Local Government and Housing together with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) had informed the committee about the increase.
“The committee has ruled that (any) identified entertainment centres that violate the SOPs may be ordered to close immediately,” said SDMC in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 15).
The committee added that two compound notices were issued in Betong and Sarikei respectively for non-compliance with the SOPs.
On the statewide monitoring of SOP compliance, SDMC said the surveillance team of 596 personnel had inspected 1,569 premises including 166 supermarkets, restaurants (278), factories (2), banks (102), government offices (59), hawker centres (30), markets (79), places of worship (151), recreational areas (29), construction sites (18), and others (655).
Six ongoing roadblocks were conducted in five districts throughout the state as part of Op Benteng.
The roadblocks covered two locations in Lundu and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu with a total of 1,877 vehicles inspected.
