While it is true that keeping all your electronics on standby all the time is a great way to waste a lot of energy, there are some devices that should never be switched off completely.
Many people use power strips so that a bunch of devices can be switched on and off all at once, which is a really useful way to reduce energy costs.
But devices that need to stay connected at all times, such as OLED TVs, should be plugged in separately. OLED televisions need to stay in standby as they often update overnight, to ensure the display has the best software at all times.
Other devices that need to stay on are inkjet printers, because they automatically go through an energy-consuming cleaning process whenever they are powered up again — which just isn’t necessary that often, and also wastes ink.
