SIBU: After the overwhelming response to its first and second series, theSTAGE is now back with its third series, running from April 7 to 9 at Rajang Esplanade.

By reaching out to 4,000 audiences for its first series and 6,000 audiences for its second series, the event is expected to reach up to 10,000 audiences this time around.

Its organising chairman Alex Kong said that theSTAGE, which was initiated by Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, is a sharing platform with a vision to invite and gather Sibu performing communities.

“The purpose of this long-term project is to set up a platform ecosystem with regularity in exploration, collaboration, and performance by gathering together all the talents.

“theSTAGE sees itself as a platform to encourage Sibu performers to dare to dream and give themselves a chance for exposure, working together with the professional creative media agency,” he said in a press conference yesterday (March 17).

Kong noted that beside local artist performers, theSTAGE also provides 20 stalls to the vendors to help those start-up entrepreneurs gain business skills and learn how to start up their businesses, as well as help promote a creative idea to the market.

“We hope this event can attract those talented youth from other nearby cities or towns to join us and dare to dream. Don’t let your dream be buried,” he said.

During the press conference, Kelab Yartist was introduced as the official organiser for theSTAGE third series event.

Its president Johnson Ling said that the slogan for the upcoming event is “Let’s Go Dreamer,” and more than 10 out of 30 local performers who attended the audition will participate in the programme.

“We have all witnessed more than 10 groups of young, talented local performers being discovered under this event.

“And we have also been told that some of these performers have even been booked to perform at various events in Sibu town,” he said, hoping that theSTAGE 3.0 will be successfully held and will unearth more young talents in the town.
