KUCHING: Kuching City FC assistant head coach Sulaiman Hussin (pictured) said he still has faith in the players’ abilities to turn the season around.
Kuching City have not won a league game in the past six matches, with one draw and five losses after winning the opening game.
The next league match does not look any easier on paper as it is against last season’s runners-up Terengganu FC, who started the season slow themselves but have since found their form in the past four matches.
“Among our coaching staff, we have no worries when it comes to having faith in our players because this is the first season at the highest level for most of our players and they are still learning their ways while raking up experience game by game.
“So, as they keep on going and learn game by game, I have faith that they will slowly but surely become better and our results will improve from there.
“What we, as coaches, have to do is not giving up and with the experience that our head coach Irfan (Bakti Abu Salim) has, I believe that the players will improve and hopefully results will become better after that,” Sulaiman said.
He added that indeed they were pegged back by Kelantan United on Wednesday night (April 5) with the last kick of the match but what the coaching staff need to do is motivate the players again to keep going.
“In football it is like this, you can expect opponents to give what you want and if you do not concentrate until the final whistle, it will cost you points.
“But this is a lesson for the players, and also for the coaching staff to keep working hard to motivate the players to keep on going and face our future opponents and the challenges ahead and that starts with the game against Terengganu FC.
“I am aware that they have found their form again and I know it will not be an easy game but we will certainly try our best,” Sulaiman concluded.
