KUCHING: A 25-year-old snatch thief’s luck ran out this morning when he grabbed a young woman’s handbag at a commercial centre along Jalan Song.

He tried to get away on his motorcycle but knocked into a Myvi whose driver realised the man’s getaway attempt.

He fell on the road and members of the public who saw the snatching incident, pounced on him.

A video clip that went viral showed the suspect trying to get up but broken chairs rained down on him.

He did get up but was brought down by close to a dozen angry people.

It was street justice at its best. There were blows and kicks and the thief was just lucky enough to still remain in one piece.

By the time the police arrived, he had lost a shoe and was shirtless.
