MIRI: A Korean housewife in her forties broke her front tooth following a scuffle with a thief who earlier stole her mangoes yesterday morning.

The incident took place at her home in Krokop 5 here.

A police report on the incident has been lodged at Miri Central police station (CPS).

According to a source, a local man in his late thirties has been detained in connection with the alleged incident. Police also seized about 5kg of mangoes which he concealed inside a gunny bag.

The source said the suspect had gone to the victim’s backyard and was picking several fruits from her mango tree when he realised he was being noticed by the house owner.

While attempting to flee, he was grabbed by the victim and a scuffle ensued. The woman was apparently punched in the mouth which broke her front tooth.

Luckily for her, two policemen were patrolling the area and made swift arrest of the mango thief.

The suspect was subsequently brought to CPS for questioning.
