KUCHING: CID police seized a four-wheel drive vehicle and two motorcycles after a chase in an oil palm plantation at Raso 2 in Lundu.
A team of 12 officers and constables from Kuching and Samarahan went to the plantation at 5am after getting a tip-off that there was a vehicle theft syndicate operating in the area.
The team saw a group of seven people with motorcycles and a Mitsubishi Pajero heading for Kalimantan.
During the chase, the suspects left behind the Pajero and two of the motorcycles. The police deduced that they fled using the rest of the motorcycles into the jungle.
One of the abandoned bikes is a Yamaha E1 15 M with a fake plate number and no chassis number. The bike was reported missing in Samarahan.
The other bike is a Yamaha 125ZR with a fake plate and it too has no chassis number.
As for the silvery Pajero, it was reported missing earlier this month at Kampung Gita area.
All the seized items were brought back to Bau police station for further investigation.
Sarawak CID head, SAC Denis Leong, confirmed the case and said police will investigate further in order to eliminate the syndicate operating in the city.
