KUCHING: Former deputy chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri George Chan Hong Nam said it is important that Sarawakians must work together to develop the state.

“Working together as one for the best interests of Sarawak, I think they (Gabungan Parti Sarawak – GPS) will be very successful in achieving their objectives.

“This is due to the fact that GPS is very focused in that sense, very focused in wanting to do the best for Sarawak,” he said during his Chinese New Year open house Tuesday.

Dr Chan said exiting Barisan Nasional (BN) was “necessary” for the state.

“Now what is left is for Sarawakians to work together to develop the state to ensure that everything that has been planned can be implemented successfully.

“The important thing is for all the races to work together as one. I think political parties should forget about their old-fashioned ways,” he said.

“Think of what is best for the state and not think about personal gain,” he added.
