SIBU: Sibu Jaya residents under home quarantine are reminded not to leave their houses for 14 days.

Sibu Division Health Officer Dr Teh Jo Hun said apart from that, they also had to wear white wristbands and wait for further instructions from the Health Ministry (MOH) from time to time during their quarantine.

“Those who are quarantined will be swabbed again for the second time and will be allowed to leave their house after 14 days if they are healthy on the advice of MOH,” he said when met after the completion of the Covid-19 swab tests held at the Sibu Jaya Flat compound here on Sunday (Feb 7).

Dr Teh explained that during the mass Covid-19 swab tests held at Sibu Jaya Wet Market on Jan 31, people who screened were not given the white wristbands.

“This is because it is a new directive from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), he added.

Meanwhile, Sibu Jaya police station head Inspector Rodua Tayo warned those sporting the white wristbands would be arrested if they were found to be in public places.

“The police will refer them to the MOH for further action before they are brought to court,” he said.

Rodua added the police would conduct patrols at the Sibu Jaya Flat to ensure compliance with the quarantine order.

“No movement restrictions have been made. We already have roadblocks at the entrance to Sibu Jaya and will only conduct regular patrols, especially around the Sibu Jaya commercial centre,” he explained.
