ISLAMABAD: Thousands of activists gathered for a protest rally in the city of Rawalpindi over the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, a Sputnik correspondent reported.

The Pakistani Jamaat-e-Islami party took its supporters to the streets, and party leader Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman addressed the demonstrators.

In addition, a decision was announced to declare Aug 3 as Palestine Day.
