MUKAH: An estimated 7,000 visitors gathered at Dataran Pehin Setia Raja on Saturday night for the Christmas Festival.
The event featured a Christmas Parade, with participation from diverse communities in the area.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, accompanied by Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine, led the parade.
A highlight of the evening was the lighting of seven Christmas trees, marking the festival’s official commencement. These trees, adorned with various ornaments, will remain illuminated throughout December, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The 1.2-kilometre-long parade, a collaborative effort by the Association of Sarawak Churches (ACS) Mukah Branch, the Mukah Parliamentary Service Centre, and the Mukah District Office, started and concluded at Dataran Pehin Setia Raja, circling the town.
Post-parade, the crowd enjoyed a concert featuring artists like Suffian Suhaimi and Datuk Francisca Peter, alongside other local talents. Hanifah took this opportunity to extend her gratitude to everyone who contributed to the festival’s success.
