KUCHING: An unemployed man was sentenced to five months in prison for making death threats against his mother and threatening to rape his younger sister after his request for money was turned down.
Ramlissari Malim, 24, from Kampung Tabuan Hilir pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code which was read by an interpreter before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi at the Magistrate’s Court today (March 1).
According to the charge, he uttered death threats against his 49-year-old mother at a house in Kampung Tabuan Selipar Putus, at about 11am on Nov 3 last year.
He went on a rampage, kicking the door and threatening her by saying ‘mun kitak sik berik duit, kamek bunuh kitak dan kamek akan rogol adik’.
Worried about their safety and that of other family members, she lodged a police report and he was arrested the same day at a house in Kampung Hilir.
The prosecution of the case was handled by Prosecuting Officer ASP Rogayah Rosli while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
