SIBU: Police have arrested three suspects during a traffic roadblock in an operation for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Yesterday, Sibu district police have conducted Operasi Mabuk at Tunku Osman from 10pm to 3am in the morning.
Sibu OCPD ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said in a press statement that three male suspects, aged 57, 41 and 39 were arrested in the operation.
“They were arrested for driving over the over the alcohol limit permitted and they are investigated under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“Apart from that, summons have been handed out to road users for driver’s license offences, for modifying exhausts, motor vehicle license (LKM) offences and not putting the ‘P’ stickers,” he said.
Zulkipli reminds the public to adhere the laws on the road, and also not to drive while under the influence of alcohol for the safety of the public.
