MIRI: Narcotics police here detained three men, including two locals and a foreigner, during a raid on a house in Tudan on Saturday.
Miri District police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects, aged between 32 and 46, were believed to be involved in drug trafficking activities targeting the local market.
The raid, conducted at around 12.30 pm, resulted in the seizure of 62.4 grams of methamphetamine and seven grams of Erimin 5 pills valued at RM7,144.
In addition to the drugs, the police also confiscated a Toyota Hilux valued at approximately RM100,000, bringing the total value of the seized items to RM107,144.
All three suspects will be remanded to assist with further investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the potential penalty of death by hanging or life imprisonment and a minimum of 12 lashes and Section 12(2) of the same act, which could result in a fine of up to RM100,000 and imprisonment for up to five years or both.
