KUCHING: A businessman from Borneo Garden at Airport Road here was made RM3,800 poorer after his shop at Jalan Gambier was broken into and several items were carted away.

The 29-year-old businessman said he went to his shop at 8am yesterday and was shocked to find that the door had been forced open. Among the items stolen were a cash register, RM400 and eight computer tablets.

In another case, a 63-year-old businessman reported that his office on the first floor of a building at Rubber Road was broken into after intruders entered the premises through the back door by removing the metal grilles.

The businessman claimed that among the items stolen were new and used handphones and office equipment worth about RM5,000. He discovered the break-in at 4.30pm on Monday.

In an unrelated case, a pharmacist from Perak reported on Sunday that her handbag containing RM400 and some personal documents, credit card, bank books and RM400 was stolen after her car was broken into.

The victim said that she parked her car at Jalan Astana and discovered the break-in at 8am.
