SIBU: Three men were arrested for riding their motorcycles dangerously on Friday night.

Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the men, aged 19 to 25, were detained in a special operation codenamed ‘Ops Samseng Jalanan’ along Jalan Awang Ramli Amit.

“Two of the suspects are being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

“Another suspect is being investigated under Section 108 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for falsifying plate numbers,” he said in a statement.

Zulkipli added that the operation, conducted by a team from the Sibu District Police Headquarters (IPD), took place from 9 pm to 3 am and involved the inspection of 92 individuals, including 3 women.

“A total of 138 summonses were issued for various offenses, including driving without a licence, structural modification, exhaust modification, no registration number, failure to display P sticker, no side mirrors, and incomplete accessories,” he said.

“Thirty-seven motorcycles were also seized for documentation purposes.”

He advised the public to comply with traffic laws and urged parents to monitor their children’s activities to prevent them from engaging in illegal activities.
