SIBU: The Sibu parliamentary seat will see a three-cornered fight between Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Democratic Action party (DAP) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) in the 15th general election (GE15).

A new face – Clarence Ting Ing Horh contesting under the GPS banner, will be against DAP Oscar Ling and PSB President Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh.

Ling is defending his seat, hoping to retain for the third term.

The Election Commission (EC) returning officer, Khalid Andong, made the announcement at Sibu Islamic Complex nomination centre at 10:40 am today, after going through the background checks of all three candidates.

Earlier, Ting arrived at the nomination centre, with his proposer Syed Hamzah Wan Hamid Adruce and seconder Ting Tien Huat. Ling also came with his proposer Irene Chang Oi Lin and seconder Adeline Kiu.

Meanwhile, Wong was the last to arrive with his proposer Ting Hoong Hua and seconder Datuk Lau Ung Hie.

As for Lanang, EC has also confirmed that there will be a four-cornered contest for the parliamentary seat.

DAP Alice Lau will be facing three challengers in defending her seat; including GPS candidate Wong Ching Yong, Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) candidate Priscilla Lau and independent candidate Datuk Wong Tiing Kiong.
