SERIAN: Three men were arrested for indulging in illegal ‘holo’ (dice-based) gambling game in a raid on a restaurant here last Wednesday.
Serian district police chief DSP Aswandy Anis said the raid was carried out around 3pm after information and intelligence were gathered by the police.
During the raid, a group of men were gambling in the premises.
“The men fled after realising the presence of the police, but three of them were detained,” he said in a statement.
Police also confiscated items used in the illegal gambling activity.
The case is being investigated under Section 7 (2) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
Meanwhile, a man suspected of being an illegal lottery agent was also arrested in a raid on a premise here at around 5.45pm on the same day.
The suspect was detained for further investigation under Section 4A (a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
