KAPIT: Police arrested three locals for allegedly possessing suspected syabu drugs in a car last Thursday (Sept 7).
The men, who are in their 20s, were detained around 4pm after a crime prevention patrol team came across a car in a suspicious circumstance in the town area.
Kapit police chief DSP Rohana Nanu said that inspections led to the finding of a plastic packet containing crystalline substance believed to be syabu.
“The drugs weighing 1g, are estimated to be worth around RM100.
“Following that, all three suspects were taken to the police station along with their car for further investigation,” she said.
Preliminary urine tests found that two of them were tested positive for methamphetamine.
She added that the suspects are remanded until Sept 11 to facilitate investigations under Sections 12(3) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
If convicted, the suspects can face imprisonment or a fine.
