KUCHING: Three house fire incidents occurred today (Oct 12) in Sarawak with the first one being reported at 10.34am in a workers’ housing block at Jelalong 3 Estate, Bintulu.
The fire completely engulfed a single-story, non-permanent structure housing five units. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. A total of 8 firefighters from the Bintulu Fire Station (Bomba), responded to the call using a fire rescue truck.
At 11am another fire was reported in Lorong 4, Kampung Gayau Padok, Simunjan. Firefighters arrived at the scene by 11.30am, having covered a distance of 30 kilometres.
The fire affected a single-story permanent house, with approximately 60 percent of it burned, starting from the ceiling and spreading to the living area. Three occupants were safely evacuated without injuries. The villagers initially extinguished the flames before the firefighters arrived.
Later in the day, at approximately 3.05pm, a fire broke out in Lorong 4-8 at Taman Ceria, Bandar Baru PermyJaya, Miri. This incident involved four two-story flat houses, covering an estimated area of 70 by 40 feet.
The Lutong and Lopeng Fire Stations deployed a total of 18 firefighters, using two fire rescue trucks and one emergency medical rescue service vehicle.firefighters acted swiftly to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent homes, and, fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident as well.
