KUCHING: The Ministry of Utilities through the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) is currently implementing three initiatives worth about RM40 million to improve the water supply along Jalan Kuching-Serian including to the area leading towards Kampung Taee.
This was stressed by the ministry in a press statement yesterday regarding the news in The Borneo Post titled “PKR Serian urges JBALB to waive water bills of residents” as well as Sin Chew Daily dated April 4, 2019.
“For information, this issue is due to the frequent obsolete pipe leakage and inadequate water supply.
“To address this problem, the Sarawak government through JBALB is implementing three initiatives, namely to upgrade the 250mm pipe from Stabun high-level water tank to Kampung Taee booster pump station which has started in August, 2018 and is expected to complete by end of this month.
“Secondly, to construct a booster pump station in Siburan including a new 800mm pipeline which is also expected to complete by end of this month. This pump is expected to accommodate water supply from Siburan to Serian areas including adding water supply to Kampung Taee.
“Meanwhile, the third initiative is to build a new booster pump station aimed at addressing the low water pressure problem in Kampung Bunga and its surroundings.
“All of these initiatives will ensure that residents in Kampung Taee will receive adequate water supply,” the statement explained.
Currently, water tanker transport is still being continued by the Serian JBALB to ensure that residents can do their daily work.
In this regard, the ministry will ensure that JBALB will implement the project properly in accordance with the stipulated period.
