LAWAS: Three people were killed while four children were injured in a two-car crash near Kampung Pangi, Jalan Lawas-Trusan, Lawas late Wednesday evening.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said killed were the driver of a Perodua Kancil, Supang Raut and a front seat passenger and woman known as Margaret as well as a front seat passenger of the other car, a Honda City, a Filipino known as Sarip Saibni Suaiban.
The crash occurred around 6.30pm.
“Initial investigation revealed that the driver of the Honda City which was heading towards Lawas town from Trusan had lost control and veered into the Perodua Kancil’s lane,” said Alexson.
The Perodua Kancil was coming from the opposite direction.
“The Perodua Kancil’s driver and the Honda City’s front passenger died at the scene while the passenger of the Perodua Kancil died at Lawas Hospital,” he added.
Four children who were passengers in the Perodua Kancil were rushed to Lawas Hospital.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
