KUCHING: Three longhouses under lockdown due to positive Covid-19 cases had received food aid from Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.
The Simanggang assemblyman, in collaboration with Sri Aman Divisional Social Welfare Department, delivered the food supplies to 32 families at Rumah (Rh) Suntie Sayup, Sebujok, Undop; 30 families at Rh Rose Emma Stanley Gate, Temudok Atas; and 11 families at Rh Romeneo Tugang, Ng Skrang Ulu.
“We from the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Simanggang Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Service Centre sympathise with the plight of longhouse residents who are subjected to the lockdown due to the Covid-19 cases.
“The pandemic cases among the longhouses have skyrocketed due to the longhouse lifestyle.
“I call on the public to seriously comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) so that efforts to beat the virus infection will be successful and the chain of infection will be broken,” Harden said in his statement.
He added that the food aid aimed to alleviate the burden of residents affected by the lockdown.
Harden also reminded the public to register themselves for the Covid-19 vaccination, adding that community and tribal leaders should encourage the people under their jurisdiction to register.
