SARATOK: Three locals, including a teenage girl, narrowly escaped serious injuries in a car accident along Jalan Engkalak Krian today (Oct 20).

Firefighters from the Saratok station were dispatched to the scene, about 24 kilometres away, after receiving an emergency call at 12.50 pm.

The pick-up truck carrying the victims, ages 19, 45, and 49, swerved out of control and plunged into a five-metre deep ravine, overturning.

Members of the public had already rescued the victims from the wreckage before the firefighters arrived.
All three were transported to the Nanga Budu health clinic for treatment.

The extent of their injuries remains unknown.

The fire department concluded the operation at 1.49 pm.
