MUAR: Police arrested three suspects aged between 20 and 22, following a daring robbery at a higher education institute (IPT) dormitory in Pagoh near here early Monday (Apr 15) morning.
Muar police chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said a local woman reported that she and three other students were robbed by two strangers at a residential hall of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) Pagoh at 3 am on Monday.
He said the victims did not resist as the suspects, armed with knives, ambushed them in their room.
“The suspects fled after snatching the victims’ valuables. Later, at about 9 am, police nabbed one of the male suspects on the PLUS (North-South) Expressway near the Pagoh exit.
“Following the arrest, at 11.40 pm two more suspects were apprehended in Kulai,” he said in a statement.
Raiz said that one of the suspects had rented the ‘getaway’ vehicle to the other two suspects.
He said among the loot seized from the three suspects were a gold chain, 17 mobile phones, three cars, 24 vape pods and three laptops.
“We also confiscated two tablets, two earplugs, a knife and a plastic packet containing 3.15 grams of crystalline powder believed to be syabu.
“Urine tests conducted on the three suspects turned out positive for drugs, while two suspects have a criminal record of 27 and 33 cases respectively,” he said.
He added that the case was investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and if found guilty, they could face up to 20 years in prison and be subjected to whipping. – BERNAMA
