Three new bills to be tabled at next DUN sitting

KUCHING: Three new bills are set to be tabled in the next State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting. The three bills — Strata (Subsidiary Titles) Bill, 2019; Strata Management Bill, 2019 and Sarawak Heritage Bill, 2019 — will be tabled on the first day of the sitting.

“Strata (Subsidiary Titles) Bill, 2019 will be tabled by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Strata Management Bill, 2019 is set to be tabled by Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian,” said State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar.

“Meanwhile the Sarawak Heritage Bill, 2019 will be tabled by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah,” he revealed during a press conference at PBB Headquarters, Jalan Bako here yesterday.

The eight-day sitting is set to commence on Nov 4 and will end on Nov 13.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to present the 2020 State Budget on the first day through the Supply (2020) Bill, 2019.

Abang Johari, who is also Finance and Economic Planning Minister as well as Urban Development and Resources Minister, will conduct the first and second reading of the bill on Nov 4 while the third reading will be conducted on Nov 13.

Two other amendment bills that will be tabled are the Sarawak State Library (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and Natural Resources and Environment (Amendment) Bill, 2019.

The bills will be tabled by Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip and Awang Tengah respectively.

The sitting will commence at 9am for the whole eight days and no sitting will be conducted on Saturday (Nov 9) and Sunday (Nov 10).
