SELANGAU: Three new faces will be contesting for the Selangau parliamentary seat in the 15th general election (GE15).

The contenders are Edwin Banta from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Umpang Sabang from Pakatan Harapan (PH) and an Independent, Henry Joseph.

Umpang was the earliest candidate to arrive at the nomination centre accompanied by his proposer Sim Yaw Cheng and his seconder Kasin Nyaru.

Edwin arrived at the nomination together with his proposer Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) vice president Datuk John Sikie Tayai and his seconder Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sabang.

Meanwhile, Henry was accompanied by his proposer Peter Tuan and his seconder Tabur Bunsu.

The nomination process was conducted smoothly with none of the candidates’ applications being rejected.
