KUCHING: Sirozhiddin Kuziev, Mihailo Jovanovic and Célio Santos were officially unveiled by Kuching City FC as the newly promoted club strengthening its squad for their first ever season in the Malaysian top flight football, the 2023 Malaysia Super League.
It has been revealed that three of the players have signed a one-year contract to ply their trade here in Sarawak.
Kuching City FC chairman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said that his squad is looking more solid this year as they prepare for their first venture in the Super League this year.
“I am here with the three new imported players who arrived here in Kuching last night and will join the training session with the squad this afternoon today, centre midfielder Sirozhiddin Kuziev (26 years old) from Uzbekistan, centre-half Mihailo Jovanovic (33 years old) from Serbia, and another centre-back Célio Santos (35 years old) from Brazil.
“As you can see with the presence of the three new players today, we are trying to strengthen our squad in different positions to make us more solid this season and I am confident that the three of them will be able to add more depth to the squad managed by our head coach, Irfan Bakti Abu Salim this season,” he told a press conference held at the Kuching City FC office here on Thursday.
Fazzrudin also revealed that there are another two new foreign signings that will be announced very soon.
“There will be two more imported players who will arrive in another day or two, and one of them is a main pillar of his national team, which you will find out soon enough,” he said.
Besides the three new foreign players above, Kuching City FC have also retained three of their previous foreign players in Aylton Alemão, top goal scorer Abu Kamara and Yuki Tanigawa.
