BINTULU: Three people were arrested for various offences in an operation here codenamed ‘Op Bersepadu’ last Sunday (July 31).
Police said they picked up two men for alleged possession of 0.5g of drugs believed to be syabu, and that one of them was being investigated under Section 12(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952.
Both suspects would also be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act after they tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
Meanwhile, another man was being probed under Section 45(1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987 for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
During the operation, police also issued a total of 62 summonses to motorists after inspecting 520 vehicles and checking 753 people.
Besides roadblocks, spot checks and crime prevention patrols, Bintulu police also conducted inspections on several business premises, budget hotels, entertainment centres and bistros.
