KUCHING: Three motorists pleaded guilty to reckless and careless driving in the Magistrates Court here yesterday.

In the first case, a 23-year-old man pleaded guilty to reckless and careless driving on January 31 and was duly fined RM5,000.

Then Jak Pin paid the fine.

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said around 7am on January 31, an Audi TT branded car lost control and crashed into a Perodua Alza at a traffic light at Jalan Ellis here.

“The accused suffered light injuries while the 40-year-old female driver of the Perodua Alza suffered a broken rib and also both her collarbones.

“Investigation found that the accident was caused by negligence of the accused,” he said.

Then was charged with careless and inconsiderate driving under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

In another case, a 20-year-old male juvenile was let off by the magistrate with community service charity work for 120 hours in one year.

Mohammad Ashri, 20, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi who ordered him to do community service work for penance.

Mohammad Ashri was detained at 3.15am on June 2, 2019, while riding a motorcycle in an attention-seeking manner by performing a ‘wheelie’ and was charged with riding recklessly and dangerously.

Another 20-year-old male juvenile was also let off by the Magistrate Court and referred to the Community Welfare Department.

Hairi Asmadi, 20, pleaded guilty to riding recklessly and dangerously by performing a ‘superman’ act.

He was caught by police during Ops Khas Samseng Jalanan operation around 3am on August 18, 2018.
