Three premises selling fake products raided

KUCHING: Three premises in Batu Kawa and Matang were busted for supplying and offering to supply canned food which used false labelling on Tuesday (August 4).

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs seized two types of canned food with false trademarks,   namely 17 units of “Gulong Stewed Pork Sliced” and 44 units of “Gulong Pork Mince with Bean Paste” with an estimated value of RM517.

A team of officers from the ministry along with the complainant of the owner for the registered trademark raided the three premises.

 “Preliminary investigation found that registered trademarks were misused for trading or manufacturing purposes.

“The ministry is working closely with the owner or representative of the registered trademark owner and will always and continuously monitor, conduct inspections and take firm actions from time to time to deal with counterfeit products in the market,” the ministry said in a statement stated.

It added the case was being investigated further under Section 102, Trademark Act 2019.
