MIRI: Following excessive rain during the past few days in Ulu Baram three primary schools and a village here got inundated by floods.
ThE schools are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Long Lenei, SK Long Panai, SK Penghulu Baya Mallang and the village is Kampung Long Panai.
At SK Penghulu Baya Mallang, according to Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) zone six chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, the water level was recorded at five feet.
Law added that although the water is likely to rise, so far nobody has been evacuated, but the situation is being monitor.
“At SK Long Lenei, the flood has risen around 3am this morning (September 1),” he said, adding that about 70 percent of the schools is flooded.
At SK Long Panai, the water has covered the football field, two teachers’ quarters and a well-pump house.
Currently, all the schools are not opened and the children as learning online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
