SIBU: Three soldiers have been taken into custody for having in their possession 0.70g of methamphetamine in a budget hotel here on Saturday.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the suspects, all 22, were detained at 2pm during a raid at the hotel.

“A team of policemen from the Anti-narcotic Department went to a room of the budget hotel where the three suspects were,” he said.

Stanley said the cops found a small plastic packet containing 0.70g of methamphetamine placed on a small table next to a bed in the room.

He added the suspects admitted they had jointly paid RM150 for the drug.

The soldiers were arrested under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.

“The drug has been seized and the suspects will be produced in court tomorrow (Monday) for remand,” Stanley added.
