KUCHING: Police arrested three men after a businessman, aged 67, went to report that he was extorted in his house at Mile 10, Jalan Penrissen on Friday night.
The victim said at about 7 pm, he was visited by the trio, two of them known to him as Ah Kuang and Ah Boon who asked for RM10,000 from him, owed by his son. The victim said his son was still in
Indonesia but the suspects told him that they will come to get household items as guarantor if he did not pay up.
Worried for his safety, the businessman lodged a police report. “On Saturday afternoon, police went to a house at Kampung Kudei and arrested a man, aged 29, and seized his car,” said a police source.
Then they went to another building at Penrissen road and arrested two more suspects, aged 47 and 62, he added.
The 47-year-old suspect had a string of convictions against him including drugs and violent crime.
All the three were detained for further questioning. A car which the trio used to the house of the victim was also seized.
