BINTULU: A grandmother faced anxious moments when she discovered her three-year-old grandson choked on a 10-sen coin, in an incident at a residence in Kampung Hilir Sebauh on Thursday.

Bintulu District Civil Defence (APM) officer Captain (PA) Mohd Johari Mohd Taufik said that the Sebauh District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call from the complainant, Rauyah Sebeli, at 1.35 pm, reporting that her grandson, Haikal Putra Mohd Farhan was choking on a foreign object.

He stated that three members of the Sebauh APM (PKOD) were dispatched to the scene to rescue the victim.

The 10-sen coin is removed from Haikal’s throat.

“Using the ‘Heimlich manoeuvre’ technique, APM members successfully removed the foreign object, a 10-sen coin, from the child’s throat within ten minutes.

“After the foreign object was successfully removed, the victim was found to be in good and safe condition,” he said, adding that the APM members then reported back to the Sebauh PKOD.
