KUCHING: Three youths were arrested during ‘Op Samseng Jalanan’ along Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman Yaakub, in an operation dubbed as ‘Op Samseng Jalanan’ for riding their motorcycles dangerously last night.
Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the operation from 8.30pm last night until 7am today was conducted by 53 personnel from the district’s traffic police, the crime prevention and community safety division as well as Gita police station.
“In the operation, we arrested three men, aged between 17, 18 and 19, for riding dangerously. They also imitated ‘superman’ along the road.”
“All the suspects were brought to the Kuching police headquarters (IPD) for further action under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for riding dangerously,” he said.
Ahsmon said the team had inspected a total of 80 motorists from 72 vehicles during the operation.
He said the police also issued a total of 183 traffic summonses for various offences.
