KUCHING: Pertubuhan Pembangunan Insan Sarawak (PPIS) is encouraging healthy individuals to come forward and donate blood to save lives.

In line with such a cause, its president Manjeet Kaur said that the association together with the Lions Club of Kuching and the Malaysia Red Crescent Kuching Branch will organise a blood donation drive at CityOne Megamall on Feb 5.

“We are targeting 100 pints of blood for the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) blood bank to ensure they have an adequate blood supply for patients in need,” she told New Sarawak Tribune.

Before donating blood, Manjeet also reminded the public that they must have enough sleep, eat and drink well for the last two days before donating blood so that the haemoglobin would meet the requirements of the blood bank.

“It is important to donate blood as this could save a life,” she said, while adding that the programme will also educate the public on the importance of organ donation.
