KUCHING: Malaysia and other countries in the world with the same vision must act immediately to replace energy sources that emit carbon into the atmosphere.

“It is time for us to commit and mobilise globally to create a cleaner environment by using renewable and clean energy sources,” said Dr Rosli Illias, deputy vice-chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), at the 18th International Conference of Clean Energy here today.

The conference serves as a platform for academics, researchers, policymakers, stakeholders and authorities to sit together to exchange ideas, plan and examine all possibilities from all aspects to create a clean energy system.

“We have many thinkers and researchers who have begun exploring and researching clean energy technology and there are many studies conducted on management of these energy resources that can be shared with industry players and authorities to create sustainable clean energy technology.

“If clean energy system can be created widely, many others will also benefit in terms of social and economic returns,” he added.
