KUCHING: The KECEKAPAN-RISE (Reaching Intellect Through Social and Education) programme, launched today (Aug 27) by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, aims to empower the B40 community and persons with disabilities (PwD) in Sarawak through internationally recognised certifications from leading universities.

Supported by the British Council, this initiative provides participants with the opportunity to gain practical skills, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial know-how.

“This programme is designed to give participants, including those with disabilities, a chance to test their skills and stand on their own as entrepreneurs,” said Nancy during a press conference at Waterfront Hotel.

The programme, which cost RM2 million, caters to 500 Sarawakians, offers a 12-week online course that is gamified to make learning engaging and practical.

With expertise from universities such as Glasgow, Aberdeen, and USM, alongside the British Council, participants can expect the best possible support.

Yayasan Kebajikan Negara Malaysia (YKNM) facilitates the programme, ensuring participants are properly registered and guided through the process.

For those interested, applications can be made through YKN, which will handle the registration process with the partner universities. The program is open to all, regardless of language proficiency, as both Malay and English are catered to.
