MIRI: As the Sarawak Sukma 2024 softball games officially commenced today at IKBN Miri, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chew Yew, the assistant chef de mission for karate and softball, offered words of encouragement to the Sarawak men’s softball team.

Ting speaking to the local media.

The Sarawak team kicked off their first match at 7.45 am this morning against Johor.

Ting, expressing confidence in the team’s preparation, saying, “They are all very ready. They’ve been training very hard, and now it’s time to go out and give their best. The spirit we’ve cultivated over the past few months has been fantastic. Teamwork is key, and it’s important they continue to encourage each other.”

Ting stressed the significance of the game, acknowledging the competitive nature of their opponents.

“It’s will be a 50-50 situation, a good fight, I believe, but I’m very happy with the amount of effort the team has put in. I thank them for their dedication, coming together from different parts of Sarawak to Miri.”

The Sarawak women’s softball team is also set to compete later against Negeri Sembilan in the afternoon, marking a significant day for both teams as they embark on their Sukma 2024 journey.
