BINTULU: Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has retained his position as the president of the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) during the party’s Triennial General Assembly (TGA) here today (June 10).

Tiong will continue to serve as the president for another three years, from 2023 to 2026. He has held this position since 2016.

Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, Deputy Minister of Transport (Maritime and Riverine) and Tasik Biru assemblyman, has won uncontested as the new deputy president, replacing Datuk Anthony Nogeh Gumbek.

In his speech, Tiong emphasised the importance of unity, stability, and serving the people to all party members. He mentioned that the party’s supreme council, including himself, will address the issues raised by grassroots delegates during the TGA.

“I want to thank to all the delegates for their participation, which has contributed to the success of this TGA,” Tiong said.

Tiong also praised Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil for prioritising the party’s interests by withdrawing his candidacy for the deputy president position. Dr Penguang sent a withdrawal letter to Tiong and the PDP TGA organising committee during the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) session last month.
