KUCHING: Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has taken Bintulu DAP publicity chief Chiew Chan Yew to task for failing to fight for the rights of Sarawakians when Pakatan Harapan (PH) was the federal government.
“It is an indisputable fact that Sarawak was marginalised during PH’s administration.
“For him to fail in fulfilling his duties, was he being naive and ignorant or toeing the party line to impress someone (in his party)?
“Moreover, regarding his statement that the Medan Jaya flyover project was approved by PH in 2019, this is simply another lie,” said Tiong, the Bintulu MP.
“It’s a way for Chiew to gain cheap publicity by claiming credit for something that they did not initiate.
“He must think that the rest of us are really so gullible to fall for his tricks. If more young people are like Chiew, is there much hope for Malaysia’s future?” he questioned on his official Facebook page, Tuesday (July 26).
According to Tiong, when PH came into power, it was no secret that PH had delayed the Jalan Medan Jaya-Jalan Tun Hussein Onn flyover project.
He added that it was fortunate that the project was resumed after several negotiations with the Ministry of Works.
Tiong said as a Bintulu MP who has served for more than 20 years, he had paid close attention to the various school issues and done his best to allocate the necessary funds to improve the facilities.
“What Chiew Chan Yew failed to understand is that this does not mean we must give funds to all the schools in the entire parliamentary constituency.
“Obviously, we have to allocate based on need and priority. Chiew should stop paying lip service but instead should actually help them to develop and improve,” Tiong stressed.
