KUCHING: Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) Sarawak has made a donation to the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) to purchase food stuff for councillors during the conditional movement control order (CMCO) period until June 9.
“The food will help the MPKS councillors because they are not receiving any meeting allowance during the movement control order (MCO) and conditional MCO periods, as there are no meetings during this critical time,” said MPKS chairman Datuk Peter Minos.
He said that for some councillors, their small businesses were either disrupted or closed due to the Covid-19 crisis.
He expressed his gratitude to TM for their kind and thoughtful gesture.
“There are also other groups that have helped MPKS, off-campus and outstation students, as well as frontliners. These groups include Aiman Group, HSL (Hock Seng Lee Bhd) Group, and big supermarkets in Kota Samarahan such as Farley and others,” he said.
Minos commended private sector groups for chipping in instead of leaving it all to the state and federal governments.
He said that it is now a worldwide trend for those in the private sector to come forward and help out however they could.
“This crisis sees the better of helping the unfortunate ones, and this is an excellent culture,” he said.
