TANJUNG MANIS: A toddler had to endure pain for about two hours after his foot got stuck in the drain hole of a bathroom at an oil palm plantation workers’ quarters here today.

Tanjung Manis fire station acting chief Awang Busrah Awang Mostapha said four of his men were despatched to the scene after they were alerted to the incident  by the boy’s mother.

It is believed that the incident happened around 6 am when the one-year-old boy was playing alone in the bathroom before his right foot got stuck in the drain hole.

His mother, who was about to leave for work, quickly rushed to help her son after hearing his screams.

“The rescue operation lasted about an hour as the team had to carefully break the floor and the pipe with special equipment to avoid injuring the victim.

“As soon as the boy’s foot was freed, he was handed back to his relieved mother,” he said.

The team wrapped up the operation at 9.55 am.
