SIBU: A toddler was found drowned in a ditch near Jalan Kwong Ming here today.
This was after an 18-month-old boy, Sia Chin Hang, was reported missing and feared drowned along the ditch near the victim’s home.
The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said the report was received at 1.24pm and rescuers were immediately directed to the scene.
“At 1.35pm, a search and rescue (SAR) operation was commenced at the scene using surface water searching techniques along the ditch.
“At 2.10pm, the victim was found unconscious by rescuers in a ditch with water of about two to three metres deep some 600 metres away from their house,” it said in a statement today.
The toddler was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
“The body was handed over to the police for further action,” it added.
