MIRI: A total 24 aspirants have qualified for the finals of the Miri Division Kumang /Dayung Sangon /Keligit Orang Ulu and Keling/Belawan contest this year.
A total of 33 contestants vied for a place among the top six in each category during the semifinals held at Bintang Megamall on Sunday.
The event was officiated by Senator Dato Dr Nuing Jeluing, who is also chief adviser of the Miri Dayak Association.
In the Keling /Belawan category the finalists are Haywards Hezron Lim, Andray Arthur, Hakkinen Lewis, Indra Irawan Hendry, Arrick Tinggang William and Mark Wing Kang Ler.
The finalists for the Kumang Iban category are Sheila Riti Jerfry, Lyana Vellary Jerfry, Ramadia Esturin, Ericca Monna Randi, Fifi Allycia Bandong Engkabang and Claudia Clarrissa Chulat Willie.
For the Dayung Sangon category, the finalists are Angla Joe, Cindylia Dominic Ajang, Emily Ramie Bernard Ralphie, Felicia Pamela Francis, Gloria Willi and Krissalinda Kisun Yordanus.
Meanwhile, for the Keligit Orang Ulu category, the finalists are Geviena Lyana Gapar, Goretti Dayang Engan, Penina Esther Lawing, Rofina Buda , Irene Chung Shuk Feng and Vivian Chai.
The finals will be held on May 21 during the Miri Division Gawai Dayak Dinner Celebration at Meritz Hotel.
Dinner tickets were sold out right after the semifinal results were announced but there will be a live-streaming of the event through DAM’s Facebook and YouTube.
