KUCHING: The Third Infantry Brigade has pledged to prioritise Sarawak’s security, particularly in light of Indonesia’s impending capital relocation to Nusantara.

The 40th Commander of the Third Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Mohd Sauffi Omar said that this aligns with concerns raised by the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, regarding security issues and potential indirect impacts on Sarawak.

“Wan Junaidi takes the security issues in Sarawak very seriously, considering the planned relocation of Indonesia’s capital to Nusantara and its potential implications for the state.

“This may also lead to positive factors in terms of economy, development, and so on.

“The Sarawak Governor hopes that this matter will be given attention to ensure that the security aspects are guaranteed even after the relocation takes place,” he said after paying a courtesy call to Wan Junaidi at Astana Negeri Sarawak today (July 9).

This visit marked Brigadier General Mohd Sauffi’s first meeting with the Head of State since assuming command of the Third Infantry Brigade on May 31 this year.
